What do Voting Trends Suggest for 2028
Every state saw a republican increase in 2024 presidential election. We would assume this will not continue in 2028.
The 2020 election had the highest turnout ever, but the 2024 election saw an increase in voters voting for Trump on a percentage basis from 2020.
As an example, the highest increase in votes on a percentage basis were in the following states:
NY - R+10.5%
NJ - R+10.0%
FL - R+9.7%
CA - R+9.0%
MA - R+8.3%
As you can see, of the top five states trending toward Trump, four of them were from what we would call deep blue states. Will this trend continue in 2028? We shall see.
It appears that there is a battle between the Senate and the House on how much aid to provide for American farmers. The hope is to provide this as part of an one-year extension of the Farm Bill.
It appears that the Democrats have proposed about $10 billion of aid including reallocating about $14.5 billion of unspent IRA funding toward the next Farm Bill. However, it appears that most House Republicans oppose this.
Republican Senators would like to see about $20 billion of direct aid to farmers.
The bottom line is there will be some amount of aid plus some disaster funding and we will likely know by December 20.
